Companies run behind enormous destinations and the ‘tools’ they use to get there are put into lot of stress and pressure every day. Although hard-working employees are a boon to the company, the pressure they face is normally hidden from the eyes of the management. Workaholics are a result of changing expectations, varying degrees of experiences in an organisation or simply, too much dedication to the boss and the company.
People are unaware of the fact that their Health is at stake and any preventive measure if delayed, may lead to drastic consequences. The employees at this point of time are prone to missing birthday parties of their kids or forget their anniversaries and face a ‘what-the-hell’ situation at home too.
In most cases, Occupational Health turns into what is called an Occupational hazard when the workers are dealing with toxic chemicals or gas fumes or harmful radiations. In that case, ensuring a safe working environment should be the first and foremost mission of the organisation. Any company failing to provide such facilities falls short of workers sooner or later.
Occupational Health is also attributed to the changing social life led by the workers all over the country. Modernisation has engulfed even the basic exercises of man, leading to many emotional stresses and nerve weaknesses at the workplace. Not to mention the ‘fast-food’ trend which has crept into lives of people, starting from kids at the age of three. We are not in a debate to argue if it is healthy or not but we are definitely in a position to decide if we want it or not. The choice is yours!
Companies prefer to have a healthy workplace rather than facing a heap of sickness absences. Perhaps the key to maintain a healthy lot of workers lies in the hands of the managing department. Nowadays companies conduct many seminars which significantly give importance to the changing working conditions and teach the workers as to how to cope up with it. Organisations are also coming up with facilities to workers under a scheme known as ‘Occupational Health and safety management’. This ensures flexibility in Health maintenance as well as techniques to cope up when an emergency situation arises.
Occupational health as the doctors term it, needs to be edged once a while to ensure healthy working of mind and the body. A ‘safe’ working environment does not necessarily mean wearing protective gears like helmets and gloves inside the industry. A working environment is safe when the company provides adequate facilities for the employees to relax their minds. It is safe when the employees are not pushed behind deadlines. It is safe when the progress of the company is in pace with the employee’s progress. It is safe when the employee has freedom to work!
