Figuring out Menopause Symptoms

27th Aug 2011

There are all sorts of menopause symptoms that can affect a woman when she goes through her “change of life.” Many women will experience a variety of symptoms of menopause while no two will be the same. When most people think of menopause they think only of hot and cold flashes or night sweats. Signs and symptoms of a woman’s change occuring are not widely known and can be largely varied. Many symptoms of the change itself are not immediately recognizable. Only a few are without a doubt determined to be menopause. A woman should begin learning the signs and symptoms as early as age 30 to avoid being surprised by their occurence. Being able to offer the other women in your life guidance during their time of “change” by knowing the signs of early menopause will be appreciated more than you can imagine.

A decline in mental acuity is perhaps the most annoying menopause symptom as all, especially for the woman going through it. Lots of women say that they have a hard time concentrating, that they feel disoriented and that they are often confused. Disturbing lapses in memory have also been reported by many women. This is very frustrating both for the woman who goes through menopause and the other people in her life.
Try to be sympathetic to the women in your life if they start to display this symptom. It is far more irritating for them than it is for you!
For some women menopause will act very much like a pregnancy. One of the earliest symptoms of pregnancy that is also present in many menopausal women is extreme fatigue. “Crashing” fatigue is a common symptom of menopause. I am not talking about just feeling a little tired after a long day at work, i’m talking about major fatigue. This is the kind of fatigue that might prevent her from being able to get out of bed at all. The fatigue she might feel could cause her to require several hours of sleep in the middle of the day. If a woman in your life is suddenly experiencing intense fatigue it is possible that she is going through menopause.
Whether or not you want to believe it, it is possible for menopause to change the way your body smells. For lots of women, it’s possible that the change in the way they smell is what alerts them to the changes they are going through. Changes in how a person smells can be hard to detect as a menopause symptom. If you notice that one of the women in your life suddenly has a different scent and it isn’t because she is wearing a new perfume or using a new soap it could be because she is going through menopause. Menopause symptoms vary from person to person. Two women could have the same basic menopause symptoms but experience them completely differently. Some women only have mild symptoms. Other women have incredibly intense and hard to deal with symptoms. If you understand the symptoms of menopause you will have an easier time dealing with them and the others in your life will deal with them better as well. These are just some of the symptoms you might go through. Talking to your doctor will help you learn what all you should be looking out for.
