Different Ways To Solve Acne Problems

18th Nov 2010

Puberty has come and gone, but why is your acne still there? If you’re over the age of 25 and you still have pimples, zits, blackheads, and others, then puberty is not the culprit anymore. Getting rid of your acne isn’t as simple as sounds. You might want to keep it from happening first, which will need absolute commitment on your part.

First, you need to get a healthy lifestyle. Clear out your acne problems by clearing out the toxins from your body, such as consuming non-oily foods, avoiding alcoholic and caffeinated drinks, and drinking lots of water. Also, try to adapt a regular exercise schedule and avoid stress. Smoking also clogs our pores and adds toxins in our body, so that needs to be one of the things you should avoid. And of course, exercise good hygiene.

But what if you already have acne? You can prevent acnes from coming out, but for those that have already graced your face, you can still do something to be free of them.

There are topical creams and gels that you can use to dry out pimples and acne problems fast. OTC products such as those containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid may be applied to mild to moderate cases. There are also those natural remedies that some people swear by. They recommend honey, oatmeal, ginger, and even plain ice to heal acnes.

Topical products are not the solution to your problem if you have serious acne case.

Acne creams and gels work in mild to moderate cases of acne, but they can’t exterminate the root of the problem. Acnes should be healed internally. There are oral antibiotic drugs that are available in the market that may help flush out pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, and more. But oral acne medicines may contain erythromycin or any of the tetracycline antibiotic drugs. Those ingredients may induce side effects, such as discoloration of the teeth. Better consult a skin doctor before drinking any oral medicines.

For women, acnes may be a recurring monthly thing. Their menstrual period may affect their hormonal level, causing their glands’ oil secretion. For others, taking oral contraceptives aid in balancing their hormonal levels, thus helping clear out acnes.

Clearing out acne problems does not have a single solution for everyone. There are those who find some cures effective, while there are some who think other methods are a waste of time and money. Taking a healthy lifestyle is your smartest bet. It may not be a guarantee that you won’t have a single acne on your face ever again, but it will certainly diminish your acne problem.
