The Personal Costs of Obesity

People who are overweight and obese face many difficulties and consequences their normal weight peers do not. The personal and interpersonal consequences of severe obesity span from childhood to old age, in virtually every facet of life. Having been overweight and obese from age 5 to 50, I can personally attest that this chapter understates the multitude and magnitude of the true personal costs of obesity.
