10 Diet Tips To Achieve Success

Diet

I would like to share some tips to help you attain your goal.  I have lost 12 kgs (approximately 25lbs) over 18 months by just changing my lifestyle and adopting the points below.  A steady Weightloss is more achievable and also gives a much higher prospect of keeping it off.

  1.  Goals – It is good to have goals but make them specific. Do not say “ Ïwant to get  fit or I want to lose weight”.  Have in your mind how you are going to approach this rather than how much you are going to lose.  A good alternative to say is “I am going to work towards getting fitter and losing weight by going for a walk each morning”.
  2. Friends – Ask your friends to help you  by not eating takeaway or other unhealthy foods whilst with you.  Some friends especially overweight ones feel threatened by you wanting to lose weight as they feel they may lose your friendship.
  3. Comfort Eating – If you are bored, go for a walk, read a book, anything other than eating when not hungry as it becomes a habit especially sitting in front of the television.
  4. No foods are forbidden – There is no such thing as good and bad foods.  This only makes you feel guilty when you eat a so called bad food and can be counter productive.  If you really have to have it do so but only once and make sure you do not make a habit of it.
  5. Diet – Take the word completely out of your thinking.  It is not a Diet you need to be on, it is a lifestyle change.  Rather than go on the latest fad Diet, have your daily intake of fruit and vegetables along with 120gm protein and use the word moderation because that is what it is all about.
  6. Portion Control – This is the key to losing weight.  If you are not sure whether you  are overeating have your next meal on a smaller plate and you will find you still have sufficient to eat even though there is less on the plate yet it still looks a lot.
  7. Skipping Breakfast – This will only result in you feeling hungry later on in the day and the temptation to have cakes etc is far greater as your hunger increases.  A simple breakfast of cereal and skim milk will be sufficient to curb your hunger and also start your metabolism.
  8. No Time – There is always time to help you get to your goal if you are motivated. If you haven’t reached that point yet combine activities like taking the kids to school.  Don’t drive them, walk with them and then everyone benefits.  You will be amazed to find you did have time after all.
  9. No Pain No Gain – You don’t start trying to lose weight because you have a fear of hunger and the associated pain that’s goes with it.  My advice is to try it because if every time you feel hungry you have a small piece of fruit you will be surprised to find no hunger pains.  Give it a go.
  10. Find a Friend – It is far easier to stick to an exercise or Diet regime if you have a likeminded friend doing it with you.  With support you are more likely to reach your goal.

I hope you find this useful and you too will reach your goal
